The Ad-Free Experiment

Here's the thing: I don't like ads, and I'd like to avoid them for as long as possible. Normally sites of all kinds (especially blogs it seems) will either load up the page with 3rd party ads or try to sell you something either directly or through affiliate links. All of these will, at best, distract you from the content you're reading or, at worst, infect your computer or steal your information by allowing in maliciously coded ads.

However, blogs like this do have operational and maintenance costs, both the physical costs of servers, bandwidth, electricity, etc., as well as the more intangible costs like input time and creative energy. In order to keep the site going while minimizing the intrusiveness to you the reader, I am going to go the most straightforward route and simply ask for donations.

If you enjoy the content here and would like to see more of it, please consider donating. I will be accepting donations as an experiment to see how well we can do without any ads. If it goes well, hopefully I can keep the site ad-free forever.
